Capital Pollinator Network 

The Capital Pollinator Network is a pollinator habitat restoration partnership based at University of Maryland, College Park. With our partners, we aim to address issues of native pollinator habitat loss and fragmentation in the Washington, DC area.  

CPN has a three pronged mission:

• Create a mosaic of pollinator habitat in the national capitol region
• Research, identify, and address barriers to pollinator habitat reconstruction 
• Educate the public on pollinator issues.

Pollinator Meadow 

Creating open coastal meadow pollinator habitat for a variety of insects including native butterflies, bees and other pollinators.

Backyard Pollinator Havens

Encouraging residential pollinator gardens in neighborhood backyards through education and community outreach.

Baltimore Checkerspot & White Turtleheads

Increasing habitat for the Maryland state insect, the Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly, with the long term aim of reintroduction. ​

"Adopt a Pollinator Garden" 

Encouraging University of Maryland offices and departments to adopt and tend pollinator gardens. ​
